There will be a new album from Fleetwood Mac when — or if — Stevie Nicks is able to commit songs she’s written for the band and not her solo album. That’s according to¬†Lindsey Buckingham, who¬†recently said the group’s recording future depend on Nicks.

Buckingham talked to M Music and Musicans about Nicks’ recent solo album and about how much she enjoyed making it. “She hasn’t said this — this is just me — but, knowing Stevie, she’s probably thinking, ‘If I have to write five new songs, do I want to give them to Fleetwood Mac? (quote via”

“I think she’s feeling protective and territorial about the experience she had doing her solo project,” Buckingham said, continuing, “And I can totally relate to that.”

Last week Fleetwood Mac played several shows in London. Christine McVie even joined the group on stage for a rendition of ‘Don’t Stop.’ It’s been a busy year for Fleetwood Mac, including an extensive North American tour which featured new material. In February, Nicks and Buckingham talked about new songs they’d recorded, saying whether or not a new album comes out of it depends on fan reaction. They did release the 17-minute ‘Extended Play‘ in April.
