Comprehensive Led Zeppelin Oral History Coming in November

Led Zeppelin book
John Wiley & Sons

Led Zeppelin have been the subject of a number of books, from the titillating ‘Hammer of the Gods’ to some serious literary efforts. But a new book titled ‘Led Zeppelin: The Oral History of the World’s Greatest Rock Band’ promises a new slant on the history and music of the mighty British rock ensemble.

Much of the journalism aimed at Zeppelin has focused on the excesses of the band members, as well as the mythology of the group. Brave Words reports that author Barney Hoskyns interviewed more than 200 sources for his 576-page tome, including Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, the band’s late manager Peter Grant and road manager Richard Cole. Hoskyns, who is a contributing editor at British Vogue and the author of ‘Hotel California,’  also spoke to close friends and employees of the band to create a comprehensive oral history.

The book features a number of photos of Led Zeppelin both on stage and off, many published for the first time. It also promises to take a fresh look at the group’s music and creative process, its cultural significance, and the highs and lows of the musicians’ life on the road and at home.

‘Led Zeppelin: The Oral History of the World’s Greatest Rock Band’ is slated for release on Nov. 6 via John Wiley & Sons. The book is currently available for pre-order.
