Did Led Zeppelin Just Reveal Their New Box Sets’ Cover Art?

Led Zeppelin Box Set Album Covers

In typically mysterious fashion, Led Zeppelin seems to have possibly revealed the trippy new cover art for their three planned 2014 box sets.

Three new images — each featuring visually remixed versions of the group’s first three iconic album covers — turned up this morning without explanation on the band’s official Facebook page. You can see full versions of all three covers below.

When you combine these pictures with Jimmy Page‘s January promise that those same albums would be released in sonically upgraded, rarities-packed box set editions sometime in 2014, it seems likely that this is the first shot in the proper marketing campaign for this project.

Back in November, Page stated that each album would be remastered and paired with a companion disc of rarities and alternative versions. “Say, for example, ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’ — there’s an incredible version of that which is totally different, it’s really raw in its approach, it’s quite dramatic, it’s cool,” he told Team Rock Radio. “That’s one little item of it, but what it gives is a companion disc to ‘Led Zeppelin III.’ It’ll come out in its own box and all the rest of it.”

Robert Plant also revealed he had discovered previously unreleased Led Zeppelin songs destined for inclusion on these box sets, including some that reportedly feature bassist John Paul Jones on lead vocals.
