All hail Led Zeppelin, one of the biggest bands to ever plug in and rock out, and our choice to represent rock and roll for the letter "L."

There's no way we'd even consider making a list like this one without including the foursome of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and the dearly departed John Bonham.

Even though they never made much of a dent in the Top 40 (though 'Whole Lotta Love' managed to climb to No. 4), the band's albums sold massive numbers back in the day, and their influence -- in production, playing and rock-god awesomeness -- can still be heard today in countless young artists.
