Paul Stanley may have thought he would mark the arrival of his 60th birthday on Friday night with a quiet dinner out with his wife Erin Stanley, but instead what he got was a massive surprise birthday bash at Soho House in Los Angeles thrown by Erin and his Kiss bandmate Gene Simmons.

The party was attended by the singer's family, a ton of his friends and his other current Kiss bandmates, drummer Eric Singer and guitarist Tommy Thayer. Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx was among the friends on hand, tweeting afterwards: "We had a great time at Paul Stanley's B day bash tonight. He is such a class act &i loved catching up with friends."

The man of the night of course took the opportunity to do what he does best, hitting the stage to rock a cover of the Muddy-Waters-via-Zeppelin tune 'You Shook Me' with Ty Taylor of the band Vintage Trouble. Check out footage of their performance below.

That's all well and good, but the most amazing thing of the night has to be Paul's cake, pictured above. We're not quite sure who made it but we can't wait to see the cake they bring when he hits the big 7-0.
