King's X drummer Jerry Gaskill is reportedly resting comfortably in a hospital after suffering a heart attack during a minor medical procedure. This is the second such incident for the musician, who also endured a heart attack back in February 2012.

Gaskill's bandmate Dug Pinnick broke the news this afternoon on his Facebook page, also announcing that his friend's recovery would force the band to cancel all their current tour plans. Here is his statement in full:

“It is with a heavy heart that, World Entertainment and King’s X, unfortunately have to announce that during a scheduled minor procedure, Jerry Gaskill, has suffered a heart attack during the post operation recovery, and as a result must undergo double bypass surgery within the next 72 hours. Jerry is stable and resting comfortably in the hospital. Due to the circumstances though, King’s X has no other choice than to cancel all upcoming shows, and we hope that after Jerry recovers that we will be able to schedule make up shows in the future. Until then, all info and updates will be posted on all King’s X Sites, and we will keep you all updated on Jerry’s status. - Faith, Hope, Love....King’s X”

The band has had a string of bad luck in the past couple of years. Ten months after Gaskill's first heart attack, his home was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. A year later, Pinnick was rushed to the hospital following a concert after complications from a previous hernia surgery developed.

We wish Gaskill a speedy recovery, and are eager for him to recreate the triumphant photo shoot he posed for following his recovery from his previous heart attack.
