The making of Keith Richards' Crosseyed Heart will be chronicled in a new documentary. Keith Richards: Under the Influence will premiere on Netflix on Sept. 18, the same day the album comes out.

Under the Influence is the work of Morgan Neville, who won an Academy Award in 2014 for 20 Feet From Stardom, which looked at the role professional backup singers have played in rock history. Neville gained access to the Rolling Stones guitarist and traveled with him to Chicago, Nashville and New York in order to learn more about his musical roots and to eavesdrop on the sessions for Crosseyed Heart. In addition to conversations with Richards, the movie also contains archival footage, plenty of music and an appearance by Tom Waits.

“If there’s a Mount Rushmore of rock ’n’ roll, Keith’s face is surely on it," Neville says in a press release. "He has always represented the soul of rock music -- for all of the light and dark shades that implies. To my relief, Keith Richards turned out to be a real man -- full of humor, knowledge and wisdom. That’s the real Keith we’ve worked to capture in our film."

“There’s no one who could bring this unprecedented look into the musical influences of Keith Richards to life as distinctively as Morgan Neville,” Netflix's Lisa Nishimura adds. “Our viewers around the world are going to love the rare moments he has captured.”

Crosseyed Heart is Richards' third solo record and first since 1992's Main Offender. The lead single, "Trouble," is already already out. You can watch the video for the song below.
