On Feb. 25, Legacy will give Johnny Winter's incredible career the box set treatment with the four-disc 'True To The Blues: The Johnny Winter Story' -- but you don't have to wait until then to sample the music, because your friends at Ultimate Classic Rock have a song premiere right here.

'True to the Blues' arrives two days after Winter's 70th birthday, and roughly 55 years after he started wowing crowds with his guitar prowess. Releasing his first single at the age of 15, Winter was off and running; by the late '60s, he'd signed with Columbia Records, kicking off a long association that endured into the '80s. Cuts from Winter's Columbia releases are rounded up for the box, as well as recordings from later in his career -- all in all, 'True to the Blues' collects 56 tracks from 27 albums, including some previously unreleased performances.

One of the newly unearthed tracks is a live rendition of 'Prodigal Son,' recorded at the Atlanta Pop Festival in 1970. Check it out below and start saving your pennies for 'True to the Blues,' which is sure to be one of the more satisfyingly comprehensive archival releases of 2014.
