Joe Perry has just released a Christmas EP, 'Joe Perry's Merry Christmas,' featuring four holiday favorites. While none of his Aerosmith bandmates shows up on the record, actor and part-time rock star Johnny Depp does.

The EP, which is available now, includes Perry's takes on the holiday perennials 'White Christmas,' 'Silent Night,' 'Santa Claus Is Back in Town' and 'Run Run Rudolph.'

Two of the songs are instrumentals; the other two feature Perry on vocals. Johnny Depp supplies rhythm guitar on all tracks. You can buy the EP at Unison Music Group’s website or on iTunes.

“I have wanted to do a Christmas CD with Aerosmith for years, but it seems we never have the time to record one,” Perry says in a press release announcing the album. “When my 'Rocks' book tour ended, the timing was right -- we were in L.A. with access to a studio with some really talented friends and it all fell together. I was finally able to record some Christmas classics for the fans.”

Perry's been busy lately, though very little of his activity has to do with Aerosmith these days. He published an autobiography about his life, career and music (but not about bandmate Steven Tyler's penis, it turns out), and has hit the interview trail to discuss the state of rock 'n' roll.

Presumably he's going to take it easy for the next few weeks and enjoy the holidays with his family. "We wake up and have brunch in front of the fire while opening the traditional Christmas stockings," he says. "We take our time opening gifts and do not rip through them, making the day last as long as possible.”
