Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott Makes Surprise Kiss Concert Introduction

Subscribe to Ultimate Classic Rock on

When you go to see one of these heavily-hyped combo concerts, the dream is always that some improvisational moment between the various groups will turn your concert into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Who could have predicted — or even thought to ask — that Def Leppard‘s Joe Elliott would introduce his tour mates Kiss? And with their now-familiar concert-opening brag?

Yet, there he is in the video above from a shared performance on July 26 in Holmdel, New Jersey, wailing “you wanted the best, you got the best — the hottest band in the world … Kiss!” And Elliott seems utterly thrilled to have the opportunity, too.

Kiss and Def Leppard are in the midst of a 40-date 2014 summer tour, with shows over a 10-week period through the end of August. Both groups have already slipped in some notable setlist surprises, but nothing on this scale.

Elliott and company are opening each show, though its billed as a co-headlining jaunt.
