The music world lost a legend today, when singer Joe Cocker died at the age of 70 of lung cancer. His legend in the rock world as one of the era’s greatest performers was set years ago, starting with his classic Woodstock performance.

The rock world has lined up to pay tribute to Cocker on Twitter — and like his music, his death reached all corners of the world. From contemporaries like Ringo Starr to ’70 chart competitors the Doobie Brothers to guitar hero Slash.
