Experience Hendrix has announced the artists and dates lined up for the 2012 annual Tribute Tour, which pays homage to the late guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

Jimi's father Al Hendrix formed the company Experience Hendrix in order to oversee his son's legacy, and this all-star tribute concert is part of the ongoing effort to keep the guitarist's spirit alive. This announcement
conincides with the recent Rolling Stone magazine list that named Hendrix "the greatest guitarist of all time."

A one-off gig was originally conceived in 1995 as part of the Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Festival in Seattle. The concept was a success and has since grown into far more than a single event. Now, it's a full-fledged tour that allows the fans to experience the legacy of Hendrix in a way that compact discs cannot offer.

This tour offers a relevant way to convey the music of Hendrix live from the stage and this year the artists that are involved include longtime Hendrix bassist Billy Cox, Buddy Guy, The Doors' Robby Krieger and Aerosmith's Brad Whitford to name a few. The three-week tour kicks off March 6 and other special guests are expected to be announced in the near future.

The tour dates are as follows:
Mar. 6 -- North Bethesda, Md.
Mar. 7 -- Greensboro, N.C.
Mar. 8 -- Knoxville, Tenn.
Mar. 9 -- Nashville, Tenn.
Mar. 10 -- Atlanta, Ga.
Mar. 11 -- Charleston, S.C.
Mar. 14 -- Hollywood, Fla.
Mar. 15 -- Clearwater, Fla.
Mar. 16 -- Saint Augustine, Fla.
Mar. 22 -- Houston, Texas
Mar. 23 -- Thackersville, Okla.
Mar. 24 -- Austin, Texas
