Alice in Chains leader Jerry Cantrell has released a new solo track entitled “Settting Sun” in association with new graphic novel "Dark Nights: Metal: Deluxe Edition,” on sale now via DC Entertainment. You can listen to the song below.

The story explores an “ancient and evil mystery” discovered by Batman which could “destroy the very fabric of the DC Universe,” amid a background of “devastating threats and vile creatures.” It was originally released in six monthly issues created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.

Alice in Chains recently announced new album Rainier Fog, which arrives on Aug. 24 and marks something of a return to base for the band. Cantell told Rolling Stone that it featured a “little homage to… where we come from, who we are, all of the triumphs, all of the tragedies, lives lived … After 15 years of talking about my friends dying, you just really want to focus on life and moving forward because that’s really all I can control. I miss the hell out of all of them.”

Last year, asked whether he’d record a third solo album to follow 1998’s Boggy Depot and 2002’s Degradation Trip, Cantrell replied: “Yeah, probably. Down the road I wouldn’t rule it out. Alice has always been my number one concern since I started the band with the guys. That’s kind of where my heart has always been, one band is plenty. … Still happy to be here working with the guys, moving forward, making music.”
