Fans of Electric Light Orchestra are in for a double treat on Oct. 9 -- the band's leader, Jeff Lynne, will issue both a new solo album and a collection of re-recorded ELO classics on that date.

The new record, Lynne's first since 1990's 'Armchair Theatre,' is called 'Long Wave' and features old standards which influenced Lynne's own work. Of the motives behind the re-recorded hits album, 'Mr. Blue Sky -- the Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra,' Lynne says, "When I listen to the old versions they don’t sound the way I thought they did when I first wrote and recorded them," as George Lucas nods his approval.
