James Hetfield has put together a list of his favorite moments from 2015, and it might contain a few surprises for Metallica fans.

Registered members of the band's Met Club can get a look at the list on the official Metallica site, where Hetfield posted a photo of his handwritten highlights from the past 12 months. Unsurprisingly, many of his choices were musical, including one that should give long-patient fans hope for the next Metallica LP: "Getting best guitar sound yet recording new album."

Elsewhere on the list, Hetfield looked back fondly on meeting Robert Plant for the first time, as well as his opportunity to jam with Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell. As a fan, he also gave an appreciative nod to the latest Baroness album, Purple, as well as Pepper Keenan's return to Corrosion of Conformity.

Hetfield saved his most unexpected item for last: the sight of avowed Metallica fan and teen pop idol Justin Bieber wearing a shirt with the band's logo on it. When you've been around as long as these guys, it's always a thrill to see your name pop up in an unexpected place, right? Take a look at Hetfield's complete list below.
