News of the sudden death of 'The Sopranos' star James Gandolfini has been met with shock and grief by the classic rock community, as it has in much of the rest of the world.

Many of the genre's biggest names -- including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt, who acted alongside Gandolfini in the popular mob drama -- have taken to Twitter to mourn his loss and pay their respects. The members of Journey, whose hit 'Don't Stop Believin'' served as the soundtrack to the series' famous final moments, also commented on the sad news via Facebook.

Former and current members of Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith and Skid Row all praised Gandolfini's acting ability, and those that knew him personally testified to his generous spirit as well.
