Iron Maiden vocalist, pilot and all around renaissance man, Bruce Dickinson, is now about to unleash a first-class beer on the world.

Named after one of Iron Maiden's most beloved songs, 'Trooper' is being touted as a premium ale and has been brewed into existence at Robinson Brewery, who have been brewing award-winning beers from its Unicorn Brewery in Stockport for 175 years.

"As a fan of traditional English cask beer, I thought this actually be something really exciting," said Dickinson, "We could actually develop a proper, real, long-term beer."

Dickinson, a self-proclaimed 'ale enthusiast' helped develop the beer which, according to the beer's website, features 'malt flavors and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops.' The deep golden ale has an alcohol content of 4.7, and possesses a 'subtle hint of lemon.'

Brewery rep Oliver Robison added, “Not only do Iron Maiden genuinely enjoy a good pint of cask ale, but so do many of their fans. Music and beer are great treats for the senses in their own right, but the combination is very powerful."

As for the name of the new ale, Dickinson says "Trooper just leapt out and grabbed us straight away." We assume Hops Of The Drunken Mariner and Totally Wasted Years were already tossed aside. Trooper Premium British Beer will be available in the U.K. and elsewhere starting in May 2013.
