Iron Maiden Singer Bruce Dickinson Mocks Glastonbury Festival

Don’t expect Iron Maiden to follow in Metallica‘s footsteps at the Glastonbury Festival.

Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, who once insisted that Maiden is a better band than Metallica anyway, used a new interview with the Telegraph to continue weighing in on Glastonbury’s rather controversial decision to afford Metallica headliner status at this year’s edition of the festival.

“In the days when Glasto was an alternative festival it was quite interesting,” Dickinson sniffed. “Now it’s the most bourgeois thing on the planet. Anywhere Gwyneth Paltrow goes and you can live in an air-conditioned yurt is not for me.”

Dickinson, who’s flying in a WWI commemorative airshow before Maiden’s July appearance at the Sonisphere Festival, made his case for that lineup being more fun than Glastonbury, adding, “We’ll leave the middle classes to do Glastonbury and the rest of the great unwashed will decamp to Knebworth and drink lot of beer and have fun.”

We wouldn’t expect to hear any comment from Metallica on this one. Drummer Lars Ulrich pretty much said it all when Dickinson said Maiden were better than Metallica, shrugging, “I will never argue with that. I will always support Bruce Dickinson in whatever nonsense he says. That’s part of the fun. So go Iron Maiden! It’s fine.”
