Iron Maiden have hopped on the iPhone/iPad app train. The free Maiden app is available for download via the iTunes store. (Note: So far this app is only available on the UK iTunes store.) It offers up-to-the-minute Maiden-centered news, previews of their latest album, music and videos. The app will also feature material from the band's catalog for enjoyment at your fingertips.

That's a plus for the Maiden legion, since most fans would likely prefer access to the band's classic material in one fell swoop. You can't have a Maiden app without 'Powerslave' or 'Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.'

What's also cool about this app is that you can buy concert tickets and you can interact with other Maidenites around the world. Question: Is uniting the worldwide factions of Maiden fans a good and safe idea?

The app is truly international and will be available in the following languages: English, Arabic, Norwegian, Chinese, Danish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.

So if you find yourself with loads of time to kill while commuting or hanging out, and inexplicably short on prime Iron Maiden music and images, this is one app you need to nab.
