Sony Music has announced the June 17 Blu-ray release of 'Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix Live At The Isle of Wight.'

The upcoming DVD will boast a stereo mix as well as a 5.1 audio surround mix courtesy of Hendrix's recording engineer Eddie Kramer.

Recorded in August 1970, just a month before Hendrix's untimely passing, the legendary guitarist performed at the Isle of Wight Music and Arts Festival in front of more than a half million people, delivering what many consider to be one of his finest live performances.

Although the upcoming Blu-ray does not offer anything in the way of previously unreleased footage, the already existing DVD extra footage offers an expanded selection of multiple camera angle viewing for songs including 'God Save The Queen,' 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,' 'All Along The Watchtower', 'In From The Storm,' 'Foxey Lady,' 'Red House,' 'Machine Gun' and 'Spanish Castle Magic.'

In addition to featuring interview footage with Jimi Hendrix Experience band members Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, there is also a behind the scenes interview with film director Murray Lerner as well as a glimpse at rare memorabilia from the festival.
