Guns N' Roses fans in Nashville, Tenn. got a surprise on Sunday night as the band reached deep into their catalog to perform 'Civil War' for the first time since Slash was still on Axl Rose's Christmas card list. Rose's recent inclusion of songs from the 'Use Your Illusion' albums that he'd long ignored has his supporters in a tizzy.

"Axl is pulling the stops out of late! Actually excited to see what he pulls out of the bag next," one poster on a GNR forum said. "There was time when people doubted we hear anything new from the illusions era ever again, now we've had two of the biggies "Estranged" and "Civil War" WOW!"

The video below shows Rose beginning with the album version's quote from the movie 'Cool Hand Look.' "What we've got here is failure to communicate." The seven-and-a-half minute version includes guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal handling Slash's guitar solo with ease. Look for a close-up at the 3:30 mark. Later -- around the five minute mark -- DJ Ashba takes his turn on the solo. Richard Fortus takes the final solo at the song's close.

With fingers crossed, we're hoping to be at Wednesday's show in Youngstown, Ohio.
