Frank Beard, the non-bearded drummer from ZZ Top kept the beat going behind some of the best guitar rock of the '70s, '80s, and '90s.

Beard, who turns 63 on June 11, went through a series of bands before hooking up with ZZ Top. He was credited as "Rube Beard" on the first two releases from the group before finally going with his real name on all albums after the 'Tres Hombres' disc.

The group is taking part in the 'Gang of Outlaws' tour with 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson, and are on track to release a new four-song EP later this month.
