Foreigner has amassed quite a number of impressive accolades throughout their career, and now they’ve added a few more. This week, guitarist Mick Jones was on hand to receive six new gold and platinum records from Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman, representing the six million downloads the group has racked up in the digital era.

Jones was given four gold records for sales over 500,000 for the songs ‘Cold as Ice,’ ‘Feels Like the First Time,’ ‘Hot Blooded,’ and ‘Waiting For a Girl Like You.' The group was also awarded two platinum records for the songs ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ and ‘Juke Box Hero.’ In a press release, Jones said he was honored that "our music has touched a lot of people worldwide. Unwittingly, we've been weaved into the fabric of people's lives.”

In the same release, the band’s co-manager Phil Carson expressed his bewilderment at the milestone, “For me, the most significant part of today’s event is the Platinum certification of 'Juke Box Hero.'  We tried everything we knew to break the song early in 1982, but it peaked at #26 with just 40,000 or so sales. For it to pass one million in the digital era is a testament to the band’s hard work on the road, making this a high point in every performance, and to the relevance of Mick’s songs and Foreigner over thirty years later.”

This new recognition puts Foreigner in a real rarified air, and according to a press release leaves them with more digital downloads sold than any other classic rock act in the world.
