Many of the biggest names in music, sports, movies and TV have taken the plunge as part of the ALS Ice Bucket challenge over the past week or so. But with all due respect to the many celebrities and everyday folks who’ve found imaginative ways to dump cold water on their heads, the Foo Fighters have taken things to a whole new level.

In a new video, frontman Dave Grohl accepts a challenge issued by country star Zac Brown, whom he recently produced. He then issues a challenge of his own to Jack Black, John Travolta and Stephen King before the camera pans back and reveals Grohl in a white prom dress accepting a bouquet of flowers and tiara standing next to Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins, who's sporting a blue tux.

The music then turns ominous and the camera cuts to two of the band's other members, Pat Smear and Nate Mendel, who are waiting in the wings and ready to ruin Grohl’s evening with a big bucket of ice water. Yep, it's an almost shot-for-shot remake of the ‘70s horror classic ‘Carrie.’ Suddenly the challenge to Travolta (who starred in the movie) and King (who wrote the book on which it's based) makes complete sense. You can watch the video above.

The high production values of the three-minute clip should come as no surprise to those who've been following Grohl’s work over the past few years. In addition to directing the documentary ‘Sound City,’ the former Nirvana drummer is all set to premiere a new HBO TV series, ‘Sonic Highways,’ which chronicles the making of the Foo Fighters' upcoming album. The show is set to debut on Oct. 17 with a record by the same name to follow on Nov. 10.
