Fergie Named Her Newborn Son After Axl Rose

Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and her actor husband Josh Duhamel welcomed their first child earlier today, a son they named … Axl. And no, that’s not a coincidence.

Fergie’s channeled the Guns N’ Roses frontman on more than one occasion, usually with her longtime friend Slash. Among their many collaborations, she appeared on his solo album ‘Slash’ in 2010 (one of the record’s B-sides also featured her on ‘Paradise City‘), and he provided an assist when she performed ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ during the 2011 Super Bowl halftime show (and elsewhere later on).

But her admiration for Axl seems to predate all that. Way back in 2008, she did her best serpentine impression of him at the end of a performance on the ‘Today’ show — so she’s clearly been a fan for years. And hey, maybe she just thought naming a kid Slash was too weird.
