Despite a busy schedule of writing, touring and philanthropy, Elton John seems to be enjoying his newfound status as a father. On Christmas Day 2010, he and longtime partner David Furnish became parents to a boy, Zachary, through a surrogate mother. Now, John is interested in adopting a second child, according to a new interview.

The main reasons for his decision is that he feels it will be best for his son. "I think it's difficult to be an only child, and to be an only child of someone famous," he told the Guardian. "I want him to have a sibling so he has someone to be with."

John also feels that Zachary, with two fathers, one of whom is among the most famous people in the world, could be ripe for teasing when he is older. A younger brother or sister, John believes, will make it easier to deal with.

"I know when he goes to school there's going to be an awful lot of pressure, and I know he's going to have people saying, 'You don't have a mummy,' he continued "It's going to happen. We talked about it before we had him. I want someone to be at his side and back him up. We shall see."

John has resumed his touring schedule following his brief hospitalization two weeks ago. He will spend June and July touring Europe and will return to the United States in September.
