Tom Petty and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder have been following each other around Europe, so they decided to team up on Sunday night in Amsterdam. After headlining separate sets at the isle of Wight Festival, the pair ended up on the same stage and sang two Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hits together.

Petty's show at the Heineken Music Hall featured an appearance from Vedder, who sang 'The Waiting' and 'American Girl' to thousands of delighted fans. The songs came at different parts of the show, with 'American Girl' being the night's closer. The two split vocals on 'American Girl,' while Vedder handled most of 'The Waiting.'

Pearl Jam have two shows at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam planned for June 26 and 27. Petty has an off night on June 26, but will be in Paris on June 27. From there the bands go separate directions, meaning the collaboration was likely a once-a-summer moment. However, rock legends have been popping up at Petty shows frequently lately. It was just five days ago that Steve Winwood jumped on stage to play two songs.
