Def Leppard will be featured as part of the pre-game show at the initial NFL game this year in London. The International Series kicks off as Oakland faces Miami on September 28, in the first of three 2014 contests at Wembley Stadium.

Frontman Joe Elliott was in the same venue earlier this year, but for a different kind of football. "Having most recently visited Wembley in May to watch Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final, I know what the atmosphere in the ground is like for 'our' football," he says, "so I'm really looking forward to performing there before the NFL game -- and, of course, soaking up the excitement of the actual match. I can't wait!"

The Raiders-Dolphins game, which airs on CBS, will kick off at 6 p.m. UK time, or 1 p.m. ET. Def Leppard's appearance is part of the ninth regular-season NFL game to be held in London since 2007. Goo-Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance and Train are among the previous groups to play.

Def Leppard will be wrapping up its 40-date 2014 summer tour with Kiss between then and now. Their 10-week jaunt continues through the end of this month. Elliott and company are opening each show.
