A world full of daydream believers is mourning the death of the Monkees' Davy Jones today (Feb. 29). As soon as news of his heart attack and passing at age 66 hit the internet, Jones' musical peers and fans took to Twitter to express their love for the '60s pop-rock star. Slash, Dee Snider and the Who were among the musicians paying their respects and remembering their interactions with Jones. Modern day renaissance man Chris Jericho also offered some interesting 'Star Trek' based trivia about the singer, and comedian Patton Oswalt offered a hopeful if joking plan to keep more than his spirit alive. You can see all of their messages below:

Slash (@Slash): That's sad news about Davey Jones, he will be missed.

The Who (@TheWho): RIP Davey Jones.

Three Dog Night (@threedognight): RIP Davey Jones.

Dee Snider (@deesnider): Davey Jones of the Monkees died. Sad. I have great memories of him from my childhood and a VH1 Thanksgiving show I did with him. RIP Davey.

Shooter Jennings (@ShooterJennings): met Davy Jones at Johnny Cash's house when I was young. I watched The Monkees religiously. Their cut of Nilsson's “Cuddly Toy” killed. RIPDJ

Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho): Sad to hear about Davy Jones! I was a HUGE Monkees fan in the 70s and early 90s. FYI- Chekovs hairstyle on Star Trek was based on Davy's

Yeasayer (@Yeasayer): RIP Davey Jones… Check out Head. The trippiest movie ever!

Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt): Wait, wait — can't we swab Marcia Brady's cheek and grow a NEW Davey Jones from the DNA? She promised to never wash it…
