Hear David Coverdale of Whitesnake Read ”Twas The Night Before Christmas’

File this one under “Things We Never Even Bothered to Think We’d Ever See.’ A new video featuring David Coverdale of Whitesnake reading the classic holiday poem, ”Twas the Night Before Christmas’ was uploaded to the band’s YouTube channel. The video is embedded below.

With a fireplace roaring and a nicely decorated tree in the shot, Coverdale reads Clement C. Moore’s tale with intelligence and drama. Sound effects, such as dogs barking and jingling bells, are included at various points in the three-minute, 29-second video. Still, this being Whitesnake, we were half-expecting the camera to pull back at some point, revealing a scantily clad supermodel splayed out on a bearskin rug.

We’re hoping this turns into a recurring theme for Whitesnake, with their many former members taking turns at seasonal fare. Already we’re envisioning Rudy Sarzo reading ‘Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus’ and Aynsley Dunbar taking a shot at ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’ Or they could go in an opposite direction and create a version of ‘Yule Log’ featuring nothing but Whitesnake tunes.
