Ever wondered what your favorite classic rock album covers would look like with cats as the main characters? Quite frankly, we hadn't either. But given an entire photo gallery to click through, the genius of this hilarious switcheroo begins to make perfect sense. You can see it below.

After all, who better to take the place of David Bowie -- an artist who's gone through something like nine alter-egos -- than with an animal boasting at least that many lives?

Elsewhere, you'll find signature images refashioned by thekittencovers.tumblr.com for Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy, Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced?, Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town and Metallica's Ride the Lightning, among many others.

They've even managed to coax out the appropriate feline faces to mimic Angus Young's scowl right on AC/DC's Highway to Hell, and Janis Joplin's contagious laugh on Pearl. Some are more believable than others; we still can't see a cat submitting to the Nirvana cover. Not ever. But then, there's Joan Jett's scowl – which, quite frankly, still gives us the shivers.

It's not all fun and games, though. Thekittencovers.tumblr.com is also hoping to make life better for animals. The original parody artwork, done by Alfra Martini of aymvisuals, is accompanied by links to key support groups like the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Humane Society of the United States and others.
