While the members of Van Halen sort out their future, a few of their past members are having the time of their lives with their post-Van Halen outfit Chickenfoot.

Lead singer Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, in addition to guitarist Joe Satriani and drummer Kenny Aronoff are currently out on the road in support of their second disc ‘III.’ As Hagar pointed out during their set Saturday night (May 19) at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Ct., don’t ask them why it’s titled ‘III,’ instead of 'II' -- it just seemed to make sense. And it’s that kind of nonsensical spirit that seems to be the driving force behind Chickenfoot -- fun always comes first.

Chickenfoot is clearly living up to their reputation as purveyors of merriment. The band has nothing but a blast with each other on stage and it's downright infectious. While each member is a star in their own right at their craft, they all feed off of each other during the set, making the audience feel like a full-fledged part of the show.

Hagar, sporting an ear-to-ear grin, seems to have found the perfect bandmates to share his vision. Halfway through the set, Hagar took some time to share that vision, flashing photos of each band member throughout their historic careers on the big screens behind the band, and explaining that at the end of the day, all that any of them really want to do is enjoy a life of making music.

With two discs under their belt, the set list honored them both quite heavily. At the end of the show, the band did play ‘Rock Candy’ in tribute to the late Ronnie Montrose who played a large part in Hagar’s career.
