Charlie Watts Hopes The Rolling Stones Tour In 2012

Charlie Watts is hopeful that the Rolling Stones will tour this year to celebrate 50 years since the first (July 12, 1962) Rolling Stones gig.  BBC6 Music reports that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will be the duo to set the plans in motion but the drummer has made it publicly known that he’s in. He wants to tour live with the band again.

"It would be lovely next year to do some shows because it will be fifty years. Ronnie plays, I still play, Mick sings, he can do it anyway, I think Keith is doing some records," he said. Keith commented that he doesn’t know why the Stones couldn’t put together some kind of show. “It doesn't have to be the whole spectacle bull***t again, but we've got to find our own way through this."

Watts added that he and the band are getting to an age where it’s getting a bit difficult to get everyone together. “It’s such a bloody performance, getting us together.”

When Watts was questioned about the five decades he’s spent with the Rolling Stones, specifically, how have they stayed together that long, Watts gives back an honest and humorous response; "I think no one wants to quit because the other one will say 'you quit.'"
