The picture was taken several years before he left Seattle and enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. He lasted just one year before being discharged and eventually finding his way to New York City -- and the start of his journey towards superstardom.
