Ultimate Classic Rock Awards
We finish off the 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards with arguably the biggest category of the bunch -- Artist of the Year. It's been a spectacular year for music, and we're here to make one last case for each artist that's been nominated based on what they've done over the past 12 months.
The 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards continue with one of the most important categories -- Album of the Year. Many of classic rock's biggest bands put out new albums this year, and now you have the ability to reward them with your support in our 2012 Album of the Year poll.
It's not exactly an easy job sifting through all the great music that hits radio within a given 12 months and trying to come up with a Top 10 list. But it is a lot of fun! Our writers recently banded together to pick the best classic rock songs of 2012. Now we're asking you to vote for the best song of 2012.
As we head into the Best Reissue or Archival Release portion of our 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards, it's important to remember not only what made these releases great in the first place, but what makes them still relevant and in many cases even more enlightening now.
We've got an interesting mix of releases in the DVD of the Year category of our 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards. There are a handful of in-depth documentary style releases based on some of rock's more intriguing personalities. There are also the tried-and-true rock concert DVDs, and a couple of classic films featuring a well-known band also found their way to our movie collections this year.
As we continue our 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards, the Best Live Album category features a pretty special group of offerings. You've got both archival live releases as well as some classic bands getting up onstage and finally hitting the record button for the first time.
Our next category in the Ultimate Classic Rock Awards is for 2012's Book of the Year. While it's great listening to music, every once in a while it's also fun to dig a little deeper by reading what the artists that created some of your favorite songs have to say about their lives and careers. This year a number of veteran rockers told the tales of both their lives in music and the songs that put them on the map in new books.
2012 turned out to be a great year for classic rock bands getting placed in commercials. Everywhere you turned, there was a famous rock song or artist promoting a video game, a car, coffee, the Olympics, or even insurance.
