The Canadian drummer pictured in this Lakeport yearbook photo from 1965 is known for his metronomic precision, and is widely respected by his peers as one of the best in the business for his complex approach to his instrument.

Born Sept. 12, 1952 in Ontario, Canada, he is a progressive kit minder of the highest order.

After suffering a family tragedy where he lost his daughter and his common law wife within months of one another, he nearly retired from active band duty and hit the road on his motorcycle, traveling nearly 100,000 miles through North and Central America. He chronicled the journey in a book, and it was a cathartic experience for him. Thankfully for fans of his band, he didn't step away from music for good. He has published several other books, too.
