Can you name the future rock star dressed up in a bow tie in this yearbook picture? Want a few clues to help you out?

Born in 1955 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, this future guitar virtuoso moved to Pasadena, Calif., when he was seven, where as a teen he would spend hours a day locked in his room teaching himself how to play his chosen instrument. He formed a band called Mammoth in the early '70s with his brother on drums, changing the name briefly to Genesis and ultimately just to the brothers' last name.

After gigging locally for a few years, the quartet signed to Warner Bros. and released its self-titled debut album in 1978; it has since been certified diamond for sales of more than 10 million copies. Since then, they have released numerous records over the years with a total of three different singers, recently reuniting with their original vocalist for their first album together since 1984.

That disc, the band's 12th overall, drops next month and will be backed by a high-profile U.S. tour.
