Who knew that the prim and proper-looking young gent in this photo would grow up to become one of the most badass (and revered) guitarists in rock and roll history. He doesn't have his own "page" in the genre's history books -- he has his own damn chapter!

While he looks like an innocent schoolboy here, he would go own to bring down the hammer of the Gods on rock 'n' roll. He also dabbled in the occult, declaring master occultist Aleister Crowley to be a "misunderstood genius."

Rolling Stone magazine suggested that he was "the pontiff of power riffing" and one of the most digitally sampled artists in popular music today, second only to the late James Brown. Impressive.

Who knew he would go onto such greatness by looking at this photo?
