He was one half of a duo that enjoyed a very impressive run of rock radio hits in the '70s - can you recognize him from this somewhat pixelated "school days" photo?

Obviously, you're going to need more clues that that, right? We can accommodate you. The first thing we can tell you is that this young man would briefly be a supporting member of two very different and successful acts before forming the group with which he became famous.

The second hint is that he and his musical partner are one of very few popular bands to largely resist the temptation of repeated reunions. Since they decided they would never pass this way again back in 1980, they largely stuck to their guns, returning only for one final album and a pair of brief tours spaced about a decade apart. And then they were gone again, like a summer breeze.
