David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young are just three of the many artists showcased on the upcoming 'The Bridge School Concerts -- 25th Anniversary Edition' CD and DVD releases, due out Oct. 24.

Neil Young has been hosting the Bridge School benefits gigs annually since 1986, and over the years lineups have featured numerous top-notch artists and bands, including: Paul McCartney, Elton John, the Who, the Pretenders, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Metallica and Billy Idol (pictured above, with Young). The '25th Anniversary' collection features these special guests and many of the other acts that have played over the years.

Based in Hillsborough, Calif., the Bridge School helps severely disabled children, especially those with severe speech and physical impairments, enabling them to creatively communicate with others. All the profits from this two-CD/three-DVD release go directly to the Bridge School, clearly benefiting kids with desperate needs.

A just-released video trailer (watch it below) gives us a sneak peek at the heartfelt performances as well as the spirit of the people behind the scenes at Bridge School, their intent and their hands-on approach with the children.

‘People Have the Power’ is one of the songs rock poetess Patti Smith chose to perform (it's featured on the DVD) and that message can pretty much sum up what the Bridge School Concerts are all about. Twenty-five years and counting, it continues to comes across, loud and clear.
