Robert (“Bob”) F. Hendrix — guitar legend Jimi Hendrix‘s cousin and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and Authentic Hendrix, LLC, the companies that manage the late guitarist legend’s legacy — died suddenly on Sunday (Feb. 19) while on vacation with his wife in Hawaii. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Bob helped Jimi’s father, James “Al” Hendrix, and his daughter, Janie L. Hendrix, form both the Seattle-based Experience Hendrix and the online Authentic Hendrix operations in 1996, and was involved in day-to-day work with both companies. Experience Hendrix has been involved in numerous different ways of keeping the Hendrix name active and current.

“Bob will be fondly remembered for his leadership and for his deep affection and his kind, caring and loyal characteristics,” reads a press release about his death. “Always friendly and charismatic, Bob lived life to the fullest, and always touched the heart of everyone that he made contact with.  His spirit will be cherished and will never cease to fade.”

Services for Bob have not yet been announced.
