Pianist Billy Joel and Pretenders guitarist/vocalist Chrissie Hynde are among a long list of performers who have signed on to present at the 2011 Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on June 16 in at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Joining the rockers as presenters and/or performers are Dwight Yoakam, Bill Medley, Boz Scaggs, Dominic Chianese, Jimmy Jam, Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, Sam Moore, Skylar Grey and Trisha Yearwood.

The last time Joel presented an award at the event, it was to Jimmy Webb. Joel sat at a piano and gave a master class on how Webb penned, “Wichita Lineman.” On June 16, Joel will present to inductee Garth Brooks, who turned Joel's song 'Shameless' into a gigantic country music hit.

Besides Garth, this year’s inductees at the 42nd annual event include John Bettis, Leon Russell, Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly and Allen Toussaint. The show won’t be televised, but clips will surely circulate online after the festivities wrap up.

Hynde and Pretenders fans have probably noticed the latest commercial for the Blackberry Playbook features the Pretenders’ 1979 track, ‘Brass in Pocket.’
