The man with the whiplash smile, Billy Idol, turns 57 on Nov. 30, but even with another year behind him, he can still let out that rebel yell.

The singer, who started to break out in the late '70s with the punk band Generation X, finally stepped out solo once the decade turned and he became one of the first superstars of MTV.

Hits like 'Dancing With Myself,' 'White Wedding,' 'Rebel Yell,' 'To be a Lover,' and his cover of 'Mony Mony' made him one of the '80s top performers.
