Alt-rock hath no fury like Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan scorned -- and the folks at Amazon may want to lay low for a bit after provoking Corgan's ire by leaking the details of the band's upcoming reissue of its 1998 'Adore' LP.

He shared his wrath via Facebook post, explaining to fans that "Amazon decided to break an agreement and post track listing of 'Adore' first; despite assurances otherwise that asked us to wait ... OBVIOUSLY I've had 'Adore' track list for 4 months, and could have posted anytime. But we try to co-ordinate these releases to balance all." Now, assured Corgan, "All I can say is that a/ never again will I trust such promises and that b/ for now on I'll just do right by SP peeps first and foremost ... AND btw, Amazon track list is WRONG. I'm just saying..."

As promised, he later elaborated at the Pumpkins' site, adding, "If you saw my comments earlier today, you already know that I’m very upset that an online retailer broke their agreement, posting up the tracks up before we could do it here first AS THEY’D ASKED. The irony being where do you think this kind of information comes from, if not for your truly [sic]? ... Unfortunately on a day that started with so much excitement (the sharing of this info below), now I have to field through excuses to figure out what I can trust going forward. Not because I believe in some corporate logo that helps sell plastic, but because of what I’ve labored to put on that plastic."

Adding to Corgan's understandable annoyance is the fact that, more than many reissue artists, he's devoted quite a bit of time -- and added an incredible array of bonus material -- to the new/old discs. "Having agreed to this reissue campaign a few years back I’ve worked tirelessly to provide, pound-for-pound, the best reissues possible. And believe it or not, in most cases I lose more than I spend on those projects," he explained. "But this is not to say that I’m not grateful, for I am: to old SP, to our great supporters, and those who’ve taken a new interest in the band because of the depth of our ever-growing catalog."

Pound-for-pound, the newly expanded 'Adore' (due in stores Sept. 23) is pretty impressive: its original 16-song track listing has been joined by an additional five CDs' worth of bonus material, plus a DVD that captures the band's Aug. 4, 1998 show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. It isn't hard to understand his consternation, but despite all his rage, here's hoping he's still excited about the reissue.

If you're a Smashing Pumpkins fan, it's difficult to imagine what else you might want from this. Check out the complete track listing below.
