Beatles fans are likely to find an extra hole in their pocket this summer. In recognition of the 50th anniversary of their animated film Yellow Submarine, the movie will be returning to theaters beginning July 8. You can see a new trailer for it below.

As Richard Abramowitz of Abramorama, the company promoting the release, said, “We’re thrilled to have the privilege of bringing Yellow Submarine back to the big screen so that three generations of happy Beatles fans can enjoy the ground-breaking animation and classic tunes and that have long been part of our collective cultural DNA.”

Originally released in 1968, Yellow Submarine has now been restored in 4K digital resolution. Triage Motion Picture Services and Eque, Inc. cleaned up the film by hand, frame-by-frame, without the use of automated software "[d]ue to the delicate nature of the hand-drawn original artwork." Its soundtrack, which contained four new Beatles songs -- "Hey Bulldog," "All Together Now," "It All Too Much" and "Only a Northern Song" -- a handful of previously released Beatles classics and an instrumental score by George Martin, has been remixed in 5.1 surround at Abbey Road Studious by Peter Cobbin.

A fantastical tale in which the cartoon Beatles need to travel via the titular boat in order to save Pepperland from the Blue Meanies, who have taken it over, Yellow Submarine won praise for its whimsical sense of humor and psychedelic, pop-art inspired visuals. The Beatles appear at the end, a contractual obligation, for a bit of clowning around, followed by the singing of "All Together Now."

Full details for the screening have yet to be revealed, but you can sign up for e-mail updates at the website created for the new release.
