'Back Street Girl' is another tender Rolling Stones ballad, featuring a waltz tempo and, like most of their other ballads, minimal instrumentation.

One new touch here is the addition of accordian! As was the case with most all the atypical instrumentation used by the band, it was played by Brian Jones, who was adept at picking up most any piece of musical gear and finding his way around it.

'Back Street Girl' was recorded in late 1966 and was first found on the UK version of 'Between The Buttons.' It would later show up in the US on the album 'Flowers.' It's a great example of this particular side of the Stones. The song was covered, to great effect actually, by none other than Bobby Darin on his 1967 album 'Inside Out.'
