Rob Halford is throwing his weight behind a campaign to reopen a British pub that closed its doors last month. The Lancashire Telegraph reports that the Judas Priest frontman has recorded a video urging fans to join efforts to save the Sir Charles Napier pub, located in the town of Blackburn.

"It’s incredible to have the support of such a massive personality," says a spokesperson for the Save the Napier campaign. "We hope this encourages other figures from the scene to come forward and help to spread the word for us."

"We've got to do what we can do to keep the Napier alive," Halford says in the video, which you can watch above. "You can't beat live music. Any kind of music live is great, and especially in this amazing place full of history, the Napier in Blackburn."

The Save the Napier campaign's chief of PR adds that as an artist who "began his music career in pubs like The Napier," Halford "knows how important places like this are, not only to the music community, but to the wider community in general."

"Keep it open," Halford urges in the clip. "It's great, not only for music, but the community as well. It keeps everybody together — you can't beat these kinds of venues. I'm doing my bit; I know you guys will do your bit. Let's do it together, and keep the Napier alive and rocking."
