Billy Gibbons, Slash + More Raise Money for Adopt the Arts

The catalogs of ZZ Top and the Allman Brothers Band were spotlighted this past Monday (Jan. 12). An all-star band, consisting of such names as Slash, Duff McKagan and Richie Sambora, joined forces with Billy Gibbons and Butch Trucks to raise $106,000 for Adopt the Arts.

Gibbons and Trucks were this year’s honorees at the event, which took place at the Roxy in West Hollywood. Their respective bands received a set which saw Matt Sorum, Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Orianthi and Jimmy Vivino and those names mentioned above sitting in throughout the night. In addition to the tickets, which cost $75, silent and live auctions were held to raise money. This included, guitars from Gibbons, Slash and Lukather, vacation packages and artwork by Shepard Fairey.

Adopt the Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit co-founded by former Sorum. Their mission, according to their website, is “to bring together well-known artists, public figures, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and the general public to save the arts in America's public schools. We believe that it is morally and ethically incumbent upon us to foster the creativity, dreams, hopes, and imaginations of our children.”
