It took a few extra months, but the Rolling Stones brought their 50th anniversary tour to Australia on Oct. 25, starting a round of Down Under dates with a show at the Adelaide Oval.

As previously reported, this leg of the 14 on Fire tour finds the band without longtime sax player Bobby Keys, who's been placed on medical leave and ordered to "take it a bit easy for the next month." Stepping in for Keys is Karl Denson, who -- as Jambase reports -- is plenty familiar with his new employers' classic catalog, having led his band Tiny Universe through a tour in which they performed the Stones' 1971 'Sticky Fingers' LP.

Pre-show shuffling aside, the gig found both band and audience in high spirits; in fact, the Stones' official site recounts some overly enthusiastic celebrating on the part of one member of the crowd who rushed the stage during the encore only to be quickly removed, after which singer Mick Jagger quipped, "All part of the act, some Aussies Rules tackling!"

The Stones now journey to Perth, where they're scheduled to play on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1; plans currently call for this leg of the tour to conclude with their Nov. 22 date in Auckland.
