DJ Ashba Says Axl Rose Has ‘Two Complete Albums’ Ready to Go

Between Sixx:A.M.'s new 'Modern Vintage' album and the band's upcoming world tour, guitarist DJ Ashba isn't focusing on his Guns N' Roses gig these days -- but it sounds like he expects that to change sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Calling a new GNR album "our main focus," Ashba told Guitar International, "Lack of songs is not our problem. It’s just getting into the studio. And there’s been more and more talk about getting in there before the end of the year, which I’m really excited about."

Contrasting the creative logistics of a trio like Sixx:A.M. with those of a major operation like Guns N' Roses, he continued, "A machine like Sixx:A.M. isn’t as nearly as hard to move as a machine like Guns N' Roses with eight guys. It just takes a little more to turn the wheel."

Ashba went on to suggest that the new material he's written for the next GNR effort "sounds like classic Guns N’ Roses," adding, "It’s very much what I grew up on, what I loved about the band." But it's frontman Axl Rose who controls the reins, and Ashba assured fans that there's no shortage of material flowing from Rose's pen: "Axl, of course, has, I believe, two complete albums worth of songs already recorded and probably a s---load of other stuff I’ve never heard. He’s played me quite a bit of stuff that’s phenomenal, and, hopefully, I can get my hands on it and put my little stamp on it, before all is said and done."
